The Clay High School JV Gold baseball team (3-0, 0-0 TRAC) got off to a slow start giving up 2 early unearned runs on Tuesday night, but the boys showed no signs of panic quickly putting up 4 runs in the 2nd inning and would not look back from there scoring 15 runs in a 5 inning mercy rule game in Sylvania against Northview tonight. It seemed like every ball that was hit off the Eagles bats were getting hit hard somewhere. Sophomore Ethan Stager (.500) Hit his first homerun of the year in the 5th inning to cap off a great night at the plate (2-4 2B, HR, 3 runs and 5 RBI’s). Freshman Kyle Wasserman (.500) was a triple away from the cycle and would also add onto Clay’s lead with a 3 run homerun in the 4th inning the Eagles, Wass would finish the night 3-4, with a double, 2 runs and 4 RBI’s. Other Clay hitters with multiple hits in the game included Garrett Long (.556) and Brendan Hazuda (.500) who had 2 hits a piece. On the Mound Freshman Vinny Gallaher (0.88) was too much to handle for the Wildcat hitters striking out 8 and only allowing 3 hits and 1 Earned run in his 5 innings of work. The Eagles will now be off till this coming Monday when they start a 5 game in 5 day stretch at home against a strong Findlay Squad.
