The Clay High School JV Gold Baseball Team (13-2, 7-1 TRAC) swept the season series with league foe St. Francis on Friday night with an 11-6 win. The Eagles remain on top of the Conference with a 1 game lead over St. Johns. Clay came out swinging early scoring 4 runs in the first inning and never giving up the lead from there. At the plate The Eagles pounded out 13 hits as 7 starters had hits for them. Clay players with multiple hits included: Jared Hoersten (.378) 3-5, SB, 2 runs and 2 RBI’s. Ethan Stager (.391) 2-5 and a run, Luke Kolinski (.463) 2-4, 2 runs and 2 RBI’s and Michael Eversman (.625) 3-4 and 2 RBI’s. ON the bump, Freshman Vinny Gallaher (2.85) picked up his 3rd win on the season going 5 innings striking out 8 and only giving up 1 earned. Max Alm (1.32) would finish the final 2 innings not allowing an earned run in his work on the mound. The Eagles have now scored an amazing 142 runs on the year in 15 games (9.5 RPG). Clay will now start a 4 game homestand on Monday with league foe Fremont starting at 5.
